Summary You will serve as a senior ENGINEER OR SCIENTIST in the CHIEF TECHNOLOGY OFFICE of NAVUNSEAWARCENDIV NEWPORT RIWhile the selections are made by the CHIEF TECHNOLOGY OFFICE, selectees will remain in their original organizationThis position is part of the Warfare Centers Personnel Demonstration ProjectThe ND-05 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to GS-14 and GS-15The ND-04 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to GS-12 and GS-13Dutieso You will conduct AI/ML research in your scientific area of responsibility and strive to be an outstanding leader in your research community by performing and directing cutting-edge research and development through publication and presentation.
o You will influence the direction of how AI/ML is applied to your technology areas through leadership in national technical panels, professional societies, conference organizations, NRDE and Science and Technology sponsor meetings/reviews.
o You will establish relationships with both Science and Technology sponsors and customers to utilize your expertise to help bridge the communication from warfighter to technologist, to influence the AI/ML Science and Technology portfolio development.
o You will collaborate across the Naval Research and Development Enterprise (NRDE) including Warfare Centers, University Affiliated Research Centers (UARCs), and Federally Funded Research Centers (FFRC) in the application of AI/ML to Undersea Warfare.
o You will mentor the next generation of AI/ML researchers through active participation in their research, introduction with Science and Technology sponsors, and the inclusion of mentees in collaborative effortsRequirements Conditions of Employmento Must be a US Citizen.
