This position is located in various technical departments at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center, Newport Division. As an entry level engineer in the Recent Graduates Program, you will be performing a variety of tasks in conjunction with more senior engineers in design, analysis and test and evaluation.
Recent Graduates selected for this position will serve in a 2 year developmental program.
Positions may be filled in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Ocean Engineering, Marine Engineering, or Naval Architecture.

The Pathways Recent Graduate program will provide you with a unique learning opportunity, which will enable you to add to the knowledge that you gained from your college education with real world resume-enhancing work experience such as:
Assisting in planning, design, analysis or testing and conducting engineering and or research projects.
Determining or applying basic mathematical or statistical formulas or methods.
Using specialized computer software or applications (for example: desktop publishing, statistical programs).
Composing non-technical or simple documents (memoranda, letters, information sheets, simple instructions).
Explaining or justifying decisions, conclusions, findings, or recommendations.
Reviewing studies or research projects to address gaps in data/knowledge.
Presenting technical information to an audience for the purpose of disseminating information/research findings.
Using prescribed formulas, schedules, tables, charts or procedures to calculate or check values.
Developing theoretical models or approaches in field of expertise (for example: engineering models, computation models, and growth and yield models, structural models).
The Office of Personnel Management has identified the following minimum educational requirements for this position (Engineering series: 0830, 0854, 0855 series): An extensive knowledge of engineering principles and theory acquired typically through:
A) You have successfully completed (or will within 9 months from the closing date of this announcement) a professional engineering degree from an ABET-accredited (Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology) college or university.
OR
B) You have successfully completed (or will within 9 months from the closing date of this announcement) a professional engineering degree with curriculum in differential and integral calculus, with additional courses in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics; or electronics.
OR
C) You have a combination of education and experience that is equivalent to a professional engineering degree. You have a Professional Engineering Registration to demonstrate the adequacy of your education and experience.
OR
D) You have a combination of education and experience that is equivalent to a professional engineering degree. You have successfully passed the Engineer-in-Training (EIT) examination, which demonstrates the adequacy of your education and experience.
OR
E) You have successfully completed a degree (or will within 9 months from the closing date of this announcement) with at least 60 semester hours of courses in physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences, and in professional engineering curriculum (as described in the first response above).
OR
F) You have successfully completed a degree in engineering technology or in an appropriate professional field, (e.g., physics, chemistry, architecture, computer science, mathematics, hydrology, or geology) and have at least 1 year of professional engineering experience acquired under professional engineering supervision and guidance (or will within 9 months of the closing date of this announcement). The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
