BAE Systems in Middletown, RI, is seeking a full time engineering technician I to support to the Naval Undersea
Warfare Center's Division Newport Naval Array Technical Support Center (NATSC). The selected candidate will be interfacing with our primary customer, the Naval Undersea Warfare Center in Newport, Rhode Island. BAE Systems is an
international leader in developing and delivering advanced aerospace and defense systems for military and commercial customers in the U.S. and around the world.
The selected candidate will:
-Work under direct supervision to perform basic electrical/mechanical assembly, installation,
testing, inspection and fabrication tasking involving Navy towed sonar arrays
and related systems
-Be required to operate a variety of basic electrical and mechanical tools and equipment
-Be required to exert frequent physical energy. Such as climb ladders, lift and carry heavy
objects, etc.
-Retrieve and inventory parts and supplies
-Be required to maintain daily log of activities
-Work as part of a team
Required Skills and Education
Minimum of 2 years of related work experience
Eligible to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance
Familiarity with general shop practices and safety requirements
Knowledge of basic electricity principles
Familiarity with general soldering practices
Experience using basic hand and power tools
Adept at following oral and written directions
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Preferred Skills and Education
Associate's degree
Familiarity with towed sonar array general construction and fabrication techniques
Familiarity with reading and interpreting blueprints, drawing and specifications
Familiarity with electrical troubleshooting procedures and related equipment
Use of computer systems and software such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
