Hiring for this position will be contingent on contract award scheduled on or about May 1, 2015.
BAE Systems in Middletown, RI, is seeking a full time engineering technician II to support to the Naval Undersea
Warfare Center's Division Newport Naval Array Technical Support Center (NATSC). The selected candidate will be interfacing with our primary customer, the Naval Undersea Warfare Center in Newport, Rhode Island. BAE Systems is an
international leader in developing and delivering advanced aerospace and defense systems for military and commercial customers in the U.S. and around the world.
The selected candidate will:
-Perform basic electrical/mechanical assembly, installation, testing, inspection and fabrication
tasking as assigned involving Navy towed sonar arrays and related systems
-Be required to operate a variety of electrical and mechanical tools and equipment
-Be required to exert frequent physical energy such as climb ladders, lift and carry heavy
objects, etc.
-Retrieve and inventory parts and supplies
-Be required to maintain daily log of activities
-Work as part of a team and at times interface directly with the customer
Required Skills and Education
Minimum of 4 years of related work experience
Experience with general shop practices and safety requirements
Strong understanding of basic electricity principles
Experience with general soldering practices
Experience using hand and power tools
Adept at following oral and written directions
Use of computer systems and software such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
Experience reading and interpreting blueprints, drawing and specifications
Familiarity with electrical troubleshooting equipment and general procedures
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Preferred Skills and Education
Associate's degree and at least 2 years of related work experience
Familiarity with towed sonar array general construction and fabrication techniques
Experience working at NUWC Division Newport or similar government installations
Familiarity with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) or similar equipment
Ability to design and sketch electrical schematics
Some familiarity with estimating tasking, materials and supplies required
