MWR RECREATION SPECIALIST CFL

Plans, markets and conducts ongoing fitness programs to provide conditioning for facility users. Instructs individuals and groups in the proper conditioning and training for aerobic and muscular fitness, body composition and flexibility. Instructs patrons in the proper use of equipment and self-monitored progress by preparing written instructions and procedures for use of equipment and safety of all users. Incumbent plans, evaluates and ensures that the fitness program is meeting the physical development and fitness standards of authorized patrons. Administers the fitness program, instruction on strength conditioning and instructing of fitness equipment. The incumbent must have the ability to approach patrons on the fitness floor in order to provide training tips and correct unsafe or ineffective exercise techniques. Assists with the management of the fitness center with responsibility for opening and closing the facility, checking user ID cards, monitoring towel usage, and returning weights and other fitness material to the proper location. Routinely inspects and cleans equipment, performs preventative maintenance and minor repairs on equipment and coordinates for required major repairs on equipment located in the center. Periodically inspects and performs preventative maintenance on equipment. Provides information and instruction related to nutrition, cardiorespiratory and strength conditioning. Instructs fitness center users on proper and safe use of equipment and use of fitness resources. Assists with designing and implementing fitness programs complying with established rules and regulations. As requested, designs and monitors unstructured individualized self-paced programs for users or assists users in developing their own program. Conducts newcomers orientation or equipment orientation classes to individuals or groups on a regular basis to military, family members, civilians, retirees, and others eligible to use the fitness facility. May assist fitness instructors utilizing the facility. Provides administrative support to operate the facility as necessary. This may include but not limited to:
registration of user privilege, waiver of liability forms, training schedules, development and use of computer software programs and other required records. Conducts inventories and maintains property accountability of equipment. Assists in budget preparation and facility needs assessment by providing supporting data for inclusion in the overall annual budget requirements for the facility. Performs other related duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED FOR THE POSITION:
Must possess a Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation CPR certificate and First Aid certificate. Education:
Major study - general recreation or one of the appropriate fields of recreation such as outdoor recreation; recreation and parks leadership; wild land recreation management; natural resources recreation; youth recreation; public, urban, or community recreation; special populations recreation (e.g., senior citizens, institutional, etc.); or physical education. OR a minimum of two years documented experience that demonstrates the ability to apply the principles of one or more specialty areas of recreation. Position has been designated Non-Critical sensitive. As a position of trust and ITII position, employment is conditional on the successful competition of an Access National Agency Check (ANACI). Must possess and maintain a current driver's license to drive a government vehicle in the performance of duties may be required. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Must possess the skill and ability to provide fitness training and programming to the patrons. Knowledge gained through relevant experience, which enables the employee to competently and independently carry out continuing fitness programs through proper application of the principles, concepts, and techniques of fitness to the specific needs of the fitness center patrons. Knowledge of the fitness programs offered, including aerobics, strength conditioning and nutrition, and of participant interests. Skill to provide programs to meet the physical development and recreational needs of the military and other members of the community. Knowledge of and skill in the maintenance and use of fitness equipment to maintain equipment in optimum operating condition and ability to provide instruction on safe and proper use. Skill in effectively managing and utilizing all available resources (personnel, supplies and equipment) within a fitness facility. PHYSICAL DEMANDS The work requires moderate physical exertion such as demonstrating the use of fitness equipment, moving heavy weights, recurring bending, stooping, stretching and twisting when demonstrating physical fitness techniques or providing maintenance to fitness equipment and may lift up to 50 pounds unassisted. WORK ENVIRONMENT Fitness facility activities involves everyday risks which require normal safety precautions typical of various fitness programs. Work is usually indoors in areas that are adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated. Facility may be noisy. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
